Cuban Art & Architecture Tour

Gran Teatro Cuba's architectural diversity makes it an ideal place to stimulate your visual senses while learning about the country's history through its buildings. Old Havana has 500 years of history to explore, plus a wealth of churches, squares, mansions, and even a fortress to visit. We'll visit Sancti Spiritus, Cuba's most colonial city, Trinidad and get a sampling of the French-influenced architecture in Cienfuegos, the "Pearl of the Caribbean".

You will be lodged in some of the finest hotels available. Your expert guide will share a wealth of cultural information ensuring an enriching holiday, both visually and educationally.

Day 1 - "Hola"
Arrival and reception at Jose Marti Airport, Havana. Transfer to the restored Hotel Raquel in the heart of Old Havana.

Day 2 - "Restoring Old Havana"
After breakfast we'll make our way to the Santa Clara Convent, base of CENCREM (National Center of Restoration and Museums), for a brief lecture on Cultural Patrimony in Cuba. Tour the 17th century convent and visit the workshops and works in progress. A walking tour with an architectural guide includes the Old Square with entrance to selected buildings and a visit to the Model of Old Havana. Lunch in the rooftop restaurant at Hotel Ambos Mundos followed by the Museum of Rum and National Capitolio. Dinner at the Tropicana, followed by the world famous cabaret show. BB, LB, DB
Day 3 - "Historic Havana Monuments"
Visit Hemingway's former house, now maintained as a Museum (closed Tuesdays), followed by stops at Havana University, Museum of Decorative Arts and the Columbus Cemetery. Lunch atop Cuba's highest building in La Torre restaurant. Afternoon visit to the National section of the newly restored Museum of Fine Arts (closed Mondays). Evening tour of Punta Fortress, El Morro and Cabaña with entrance to the Cannon Ceremony. Late dinner at La Ferminia, a mansion in western Havana. BB, LB, DB
Trinidad
Day 4 - "Colonial Trinidad"
Four hour bus transfer to Sancti Spiritus. Lunch in Meson de la Plaza. Visit the Museum of History, the Municipal Library and walking tour of historical center. Accommodation and dinner in Hostal del Rijo. BB, LB, D
Day 5 - "Trinidad City, Mountains and Beach"
Van to Trinidad for a city tour of Cuba's most colonial city. Visit the Museum of Architecture and other sites of interest in the historic center of town. Lunch at the "Manaca-Iznaga" restaurant in the Valley of the Sugar Mills. Afternoon tour of the valley and climb the tower, which was built to oversee the sugar cane workers in the mid 19th century. Transfer to nearby Trinidad del Mar beach hotel with all-inclusive plan. BB, LB, DAI
Palacio del Valle
Day 6 - "Cienfuegos, Pearl of the Caribbean"
Free time to enjoy the facilities. After lunch, there is a one hour bus transfer to Cienfuegos, stopping along the way at the Atkins Botanical garden before continuing to the city renowned for its French architectural influence. City tour including the Punta Gorda residential section, Breakwater, Marti Park (National Monument), Terry Theatre, Tomas Acea Cemetery and Jagua Castle. Check-in at the Hotel La Union with dinner at Palacio de Valle. BAI, LAI, DB
Day 7 - "Matanzas and Havana"
Early departure to Havana for lunch. Free afternoon to visit the open-air art and craft market, art galleries, antique stores, or other special places. Accommodation at Hotel Raquel and farewell dinner at Havana's most elegant restaurant, "Café del Oriente". Free evening for theater or cabaret performances. Day 8 - "Ciao"
Breakfast. Collective transfer to Jose Marti Airport, Havana. BB
